English: Review of the Leatherman Skeletool

Today I would like to share my experience with the Leatherman Skeletool.

I wanted a light multi tool to carry with me all day long when I go hiking, camping, fishing or on another adventure.

During my search for the best solution I compared a few tools: the Swiss Tool Spirit, the Leatherman Wingman, the Leatherman Wave and finally this little companion here.

My criteria:

– Lightweight, but robust

– Good and locking blade

– Pliers/Screwdriver

If you ever went on such a trip, you probably know, that weight matters. It matters a lot. The Leatherman Wave and the Swiss Tool are great and well worth the money, but for me they are a bit too heavy to carry it all day together with all the other equipment.

The Wingman has a very attractive price and it has even more tools than the Skeletool, so first I tended to buy a Wingman. Unfortunately, I then discovered, that it lacks the option to lock the blade. Sure, it is still quite stable, but that was a no-go for me. The blade must be locking, and so I checked out the Skeletool instead.

What should I say, I was convinced immediately! So lightweight, so good to touch, such a perfect finish and handling! The blade can be locked and it is incredible light-weight. I own one for half a year now, and took it to three short camping and outdoor trips. Further I did a few little repairs (tighten a screw here, cut a carpet there). It always did a great job, and so I am very happy with that little tool.

Full recommendation as a light-weight and robust hiking/outdoor knife.
